Organizing Your Business for a Successful New Year

I have been asked to speak to the Network of Entreprenerial Women in Louisville, KY. Here is the outline of my notes from that presentation. Happy New Year!

Getting your business organized for the new year (and catching up from the old year if necessary) is essential. However:

  • You do not have to already know how to do it all. 

  • You do not need to feel embarrassed or stressed about your confusion, overwhelm or piles. 

  • By decluttering and organizing your mind, your office and your calendar you can enjoy a great new year!.

Declutter your Mind

  1. Let go of shame, blame, guilt

  2. Recognize & release imposter syndrome

  3. Enhance your memory & problem solving ability by eliminating negativity - complaining shrinks your hippocampus

Organize your Mind

  1. Be intentional about your thoughts.

  2. Remember who you REALLY are

  3. Focus on what you DO want

Declutter your Office - your desk, your bag/s, your car

  1. DELETE

  2. DELEGATE

  3. DEFER

Organize your Office - sort priority papers & project items 

  1. DIMINISH

  2. DO

Declutter your Calendar

  1. Remove duplicates, mismatches 

  2. Delete activities that do not serve your priority goals & highest good 

  3. Say no

Organize your Calendar

  1. Block out time for health & wellness (ex: sleep, nutrition, faith, family, friends…)

  2. Prioritize what brings money into your account

  3. Schedule regular time for essential tasks that AREN’T your favorite
