Three Reasons Why Organizing for a Pregnant Woman Is One of My Favorite Things to Do

Organizing for a pregnant woman is one of my absolute favorite things to do as a professional organizer. There’s something uniquely special about supporting someone who is about to embark on what I believe is the hardest and most important job in the world: being a mom. Motherhood is wonderful, beautiful, and natural, but it’s also hard. It’s intense—physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping new moms get their homes ready for this incredible journey.

One of my clients once called me her "decluttered doula," and I absolutely loved that. Just like a doula provides care and support during childbirth, I aim to bring that same level of care into your home. Ideally, we start organizing before the baby arrives, ensuring that everything is in place for two very important things: taking care of the baby and taking care of you, the mama. Both are equally important, and both deserve the best possible start.

First, let’s talk about the baby. If you’ve never had a baby before, the inventory you need is going to be very different from what you’re used to. There’s a whole new set of things to consider—everything from diapers and wipes to bottles and baby clothes. But it’s not just about the baby’s things. As a birthing woman, you need your own inventory too, and it’s crucial that you have everything you need to take care of yourself during this time. I want to make sure that your home is organized in a way that makes it easy for you to find what you need when you need it. This way, you can focus on what’s most important: caring for yourself and your new baby.

Secondly, I want to make your home a welcoming space for friends and family. Hopefully, you have a village of loved ones who want to come by and help you out. Whether it’s someone stopping by to hold the baby while you take a shower, or a relative staying with you for a week, I want to make sure that your home is organized, beautiful, and ready for visitors. You should feel proud of your space and comfortable saying yes when someone offers to help. I want your guests to feel cozy and at home because when they feel good, that love and peacefulness will spread to you and your baby.

Finally, your whole family deserves to have loving help and strategic support during this sacred time of birth. You deserve to feel happy, relaxed, and ready to welcome your new baby into your life. Organizing your home is about more than just making things look nice—it’s about creating a space where you can thrive as a new mom.
