Moving Soon? Do This One Thing Way Ahead of Time
Let’s be honest—moving is a huge undertaking. Whether you’re downsizing, upsizing, relocating across town or across the country, there’s one piece of advice I always give my clients:
◈ Start early. Like… way earlier than you think you need to.
Recently, I’ve been working with two clients who are both preparing for big moves—but on totally different timelines.
One has two years before the move. The other has just a couple weeks. Guess what? Both of them reached out to me months ago, and I encouraged them to begin right away.
Why?
Because the sheer volume of stuff we all accumulate—sentimental items, furniture, paperwork, closets full of "what-ifs"—adds up fast.
My client with the long timeline really leaned into the process. She has a very large home (15,000 square feet), and we’ve been steadily decluttering, editing, and systematically organizing every storage closet as step one of our strategic organizing and move management plan. We’re setting her up for a smooth, low-stress move with minimal chaos.
The other client wasn’t quite ready when we first connected—and that’s totally okay. Life was full, and she needed space to prepare emotionally. But now that her move is around the corner, she’s feeling overwhelmed and short on time. She told me,
“Pinky, I wish I’d been ready when you encouraged me to get started.”
And my heart broke a little, because that’s so real. But you can only start when you’re ready. And there’s no shame in that.
But—if you do have the option to begin earlier than you think? Take it. The gift of time can turn a chaotic, last-minute scramble into a thoughtful, well-organized transition.
Not sure where to begin?
That’s where I come in. As a professional organizer, I bring structure, compassion, and zero judgment to the process. I help you create a plan, tackle the overwhelm, and get moving—literally.
