Why Three-Hour Organizing Sessions Work Wonders
There are two major reasons my team and I organize primarily in three-hour blocks. One is that it allows us to share our expertise with a wide variety of clients. With our decades of experience, we can great a tremendous amount done in three hours and help more people move from overwhelm to ease. If it is a large project or a rush job, we can do multiple three-hour sessions per day for the same client, meeting ambitious timelines.
The other benefit of three hour organizing blocks is that it allows us to both accomplish the project goals and teach the clients how to participate in the organizing so they can maintain the systems as well as organize other areas on their owen. A smaller amount of time can be effective and versatile as well as easily manageable for organizing projects.
Three-hour sessions are perfect for making significant progress without feeling overwhelmed. Whether you’re organizing your own space or working with someone who can’t dedicate an entire day to decision-making, these sessions strike a balance. They allow you to dive deep into organizing, making noticeable changes, while still leaving plenty of time to tackle the rest of your day’s to-do list.
For those of you who might be thinking about how to structure your organizing time, consider this: three hours is a sweet spot. It’s long enough to make real headway—clearing out a closet, sorting through paperwork, or rearranging a room—but it’s also short enough to avoid burnout. If you or someone you’re helping wants to be actively involved in the process but can’t commit to a full day, three-hour sessions are an excellent option. They allow for focused, productive work while still letting life carry on as usual.
What I love about these sessions is the flexibility they offer both to the client and to me as the organizer. Not everyone wants to spend eight hours straight organizing, and that’s perfectly okay! Some clients prefer to break it down into manageable chunks, building their organizing skills and confidence over time. It’s a process of learning, not just doing.
As organizers, we’re passionate about teaching and coaching as we go. We understand that not everyone has a natural knack for organizing or has had the opportunity to learn these skills early on. That’s why we take the time to share our expertise, offering creative solutions tailored to your life and space. In just three hours, we can set up systems, coach you through decisions, and even provide a fresh perspective on your belongings, helping you see new possibilities in your space and the best part? By focusing our energy in these concentrated blocks, we can move on to help more people throughout the day. It’s a win-win: you get personalized, focused support, and we get the satisfaction of helping multiple clients transform their spaces.
So, whether you’re tackling a project on your own or working with a professional, don’t underestimate the power of a well-spent three-hour session. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish with a little bit of time, a lot of focus, and the right guidance.
