One touch of nature makes the whole world kin

William Shakespeare once said, "One touch of nature makes the whole world kin." That idea of connection resonates with me deeply. It reminds me of the bonds we share, not just with family, but with nature and each other. It’s a beautiful thought, one that becomes even more meaningful when you take the time to pause and reflect.

Recently, my family and I went out for a walk in the Parklands (an incredible collection of 4 parks covering 4,000 acres in our beloved Lousiville, KY) to enjoy a bit of fresh air and exercise. We had just finished watching a lovely church service online, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to reset. It reminded me of how important it is to slow down, especially when life feels overwhelming. Whether you're transitioning between working from home and the office, juggling childcare, or managing other life changes, there’s immense value in simply taking a breath and stepping outside.

There’s something incredibly powerful about being in silence, surrounded by nature. When you pause and allow yourself that moment of stillness, you may find that creativity and calm naturally follow. It’s a practice I always recommend, whether you're feeling stressed about getting organized or simply need to reset your mind.

When I work with clients during remote organizing sessions, I encourage them to pause every 20 or 30 minutes, grab a drink of water, and breathe. Organizing, after all, is dusty work! Staying hydrated helps your body flush out both toxins and stress, giving you the clarity you need to tackle the task at hand. The process of decluttering isn't just about tidying your physical space—it's also about clearing mental clutter and creating space for new ideas and energy.

I can’t express enough how important it is to take these little breaks for yourself, not just while organizing but in your day-to-day life. Even if you can’t step outside, take a moment to look out the window, listen to the birds, and feel the changes in the air. These moments of peace can do wonders for your overall well-being.
